چکیده
Artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) sector employs about 80% of the workforce but only contributes 20-30% Ghana’s production. The low production is linked to recoveries associated with activities because ofinadequate understanding chemical, mineralogical metallurgical characteristics ores. This study examined typical tailings understand their grinding characteristics, deportment cyanidation behaviour. results showed that 96.1% in samples free milling (can be leached directly cyanide recovered through carbon adsorption), whilst remaining 3.9% associated/locked up other mineral phases (carbonates, sulphides, carbonaceous matter quartz). gold-by-size distribution also indicated 73.1% contained coarser size fractions (+150 µm), 14.96% isfrom–150 µm +75 range, 11.83% finer (–75 µm). suggests incorporating a gravity recovery system during processing will highly advantageous. leaching kinetics achieved within 8, 16 24 h were 68, 73.8 76.4%, respectively. corresponding total consumption rates after 550, 580 600 ppm, Generally, agree industrial practices/results. Overall, outcomes support view some are economically viable, hence can re-processed efficient processes such as carbon-in-leach/carbon-in-pulp.

Treatment of small scale gold mining wastewater using pilot-scale sedimentation and Cocopeat filter bed system
The use of amalgamation process to recover gold from mined ores by the small-scale gold miners in the Philippines and other developing countries produces and dispose of untreated wastewater to the receiving water bodies. In this study, a field-scale filter bed system was constructed to treat heavy metal metal-laden wastewater collected from small-scale gold mining site in Paracale, Camarines No...
متن کاملHeavy Metals Tolerance Potential of Fungi Species Isolated from Gold Mine Tailings in Ghana
Introduction: Heavy metal contamination has necessitated a less expensive and non-destructive clean-up technique such as mycoremediation. This study aimed to isolate, identify, and evaluate the tolerance of fungi species in different concentrations of heavy metals for their potential use in bioremediation. Materials and Methods: Fungi were isolated by serial dilution and spread plate technique...
متن کاملInjuries among Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Miners in Ghana
Artisanal and small-scale gold miners are confronted with numerous hazards often resulting in varying degrees of injuries and fatalities. In Ghana, like many developing countries, there is paucity of information on the causes and nature of the accidents that result in the injuries. The study was a retrospective, cross sectional type that examined the records of injuries of artisanal and small-s...
متن کاملIntegrated Assessment of Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining in Ghana—Part 2: Natural Sciences Review
This paper is one of three synthesis documents produced via an integrated assessment (IA) that aims to increase understanding of artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) in Ghana. Given the complexities surrounding ASGM, an integrated assessment (IA) framework was utilized to analyze socio-economic, health, and environmental data, and co-develop evidence-based responses with stakeholders. T...
